THE BOTTLE BUOY STORY
Bottle Buoy was invented by James Benson whilst studying Product Design at the University of Huddersfield. The project brief, set by James himself, was to develop a low-cost throwable rescue device which could be used in low income countries to help reduce drowning fatalities. The product concept was designed, tested and first shown to the general public at New Designers 2015 where it won an award presented by Mars Chocolate. Bottle Buoy soon caught the attention of the RNLI who have further developed and tested the product and aim to make it commercially open source and hopefully help save lives.
